Position Overview
Kore-Tek is seeking entry-level to early-career engineers to support Engineering, Furnish & Install (EF&I) activities across enterprise and carrier-grade networks nationwide.
This role supports installation and remote software upgrades across platforms including:
- Cisco
- Nokia
- Ciena
- Infinera
- Adtran
- Ribbon
This is a travel-heavy role requiring discipline, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence in structured cabling, fiber management, and network equipment installation.

Core Responsibilities
Physical Installation (On-Site)
- Rack and stack network equipment
- Install optical transport systems and routing platforms
- Mount chassis, shelves, line cards, and optics
- Install fiber panels and patching systems
- Perform structured copper and fiber cabling
- Install DC power (A/B feeds) under supervision
- Dress and secure cabling to GRE installation standards
- Implement cable management best practices
- Label equipment, fibers, power, and patch panels accurately
- Install grounding and bonding per site requirements
Fiber & Testing
- Perform fiber cleaning and inspection
- Conduct light-level testing
- OTDR testing (under guidance, experience preferred)
- Validate polarity and continuity
- Verify proper optical power levels prior to turn-up
- Document test results
Remote & Software Support
- Support remote software upgrades
- Assist in firmware lifecycle management
- Perform light configuration tasks (IP addressing, basic provisioning)
- Support network migrations during maintenance windows
- Monitor upgrade processes and validate device health
- Document configuration and installation checklists

EF&I Standards Focus
This role requires strict adherence to professional installation standards, including:
- Clean cable routing (horizontal & vertical management)
- Velcro (no zip-tie misuse)
- Proper service loops
- Color-coded A/B power separation
- Consistent labeling conventions
- Fiber protection and bend radius discipline
- Rack elevation documentation
- Accurate as-built drawings
- Site photo documentation
Experience working to GR-63 / GR-1089 compliant environments or equivalent telecom installation standards is a plus.
Travel Requirements
- Nationwide travel required (frequent)
- Data centers, COs, huts, and enterprise sites
- Occasional overnight and weekend work
- Must be comfortable working in live production environments
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of telecom, fiber, or data center installation experience (preferred)
- Basic understanding of IP networking
- Familiarity with DC power systems
- OSHA or safety training (preferred)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Clean driving record
- Willingness to grow into advanced engineering roles
